Start with files in your publishing workflow: for example, an article’s images or press kit materials. An image’s credential applies to that file, not to the entire article containing it.
Which files can the plugin sign?
The plugin signs images, video and audio in formats supported by C2PA, as well as PDFs. This lets you attach provenance information to photographs, audiovisual content and documents.

WordPress can create several sizes of the same image and display a different one depending on the screen. The signed original and the published thumbnail are separate files.

Which content can the plugin sign?
The WordPress plugin signs images, video and audio in formats supported by C2PA, as well as PDFs. The signature applies to the specific content: signing an image does not sign the entire article.
What happens if WordPress resizes a signed image?
WordPress can generate files in sizes different from the original. A transformation can invalidate the link to the signature or remove credentials: you need to verify the version actually published. Automatic thumbnail signing in the WordPress plugin remains to be confirmed.
What does the C2PA plugin for WordPress do?
The plugin connects WordPress to SCE C2PA services to integrate Content Credentials into the publishing workflow. Credentials accompany content with verifiable provenance information, based on the data included.
Is the plugin free? What about C2PA credentials?
The plugin is free. To use SCE services, you need to create a key and buy credits in the dashboard. Installing the plugin and using the service are two separate steps.
How do you connect WordPress to SCE without code?
Install the plugin from the WordPress store. After installation, you are directed to the SCE dashboard: sign in, create a key and buy credits. Then enter the key in the plugin settings to connect your account.
Do Content Credentials guarantee that content is true?
Credentials let you verify declared provenance and its link to the content. They help assess context, but do not by themselves certify the truth of a news story or what an image depicts.
Do credentials remain after editing or sharing?
It depends on the file’s journey. Edits, exports or platforms that remove metadata can break the link to credentials. It is useful to verify the version of the file that is actually distributed.
How can I see an example of verification?
You can open the SCE C2PA verifier and check a file with Content Credentials. The result depends on the credentials present in the file and the information they contain.
