The compared file matches the version used as a reference in this example.
Proof for the version
you shared.
The plugin connects WordPress to SCE notarization. The digital fingerprint identifies the file and lets you compare it with the recorded version, without writing code.
A published photograph
Link the photo’s version to proof of integrity. Readers can compare the file with the notarized reference.
A downloadable document
Provide a version reference for a published report or information sheet, helping distinguish the original file from modified copies.
A delivered asset
Attach proof to the delivered version of an asset, providing a reference when the material is updated.

From content
to its digital fingerprint.
Notarization applies to a precise version of a file. It can be used to compare a photograph, document or audiovisual asset against the recorded reference.
Which content can the plugin handle?
The plugin lets you notarize images, video, audio and PDFs: from editorial photographs and campaign materials to documents for sharing. Check maximum file sizes and compatibility with your environment with us.
Assess your content in a demoNotarizing a file attached to a page does not automatically notarize the entire page or all its attachments.
A thumbnail is a new file.
The proof follows the version.
WordPress generates several sizes of the same image. If resizing, cropping or recompression changes the file, its fingerprint changes too: the original’s proof does not automatically extend to the new variant. Why an edit changes a file’s fingerprint.
- 01
The notarized original
The recorded proof continues to refer to that version of the file.
- 02
The generated variant
The thumbnail has a different fingerprint. Comparing it with the original’s proof does not produce a match.
- 03
The correct reference
Attesting a variant requires proof for that variant. If you display the original’s proof, the link must clearly identify which file it refers to.
During the demo, we check how your website handles thumbnails and optimization. Automatic notarization of variants by the plugin remains to be confirmed.

When content includes an SCE badge or verification link, readers can open it to view the reference to the notarized version. The badge’s position and publication of the link depend on the integration’s configuration.

- The available registration data
- The comparison result, when performed
An existing record and a successful comparison are different pieces of information. A matching fingerprint indicates integrity relative to the reference; on its own, it does not establish the author or truth of the content.

What does the blockchain plugin for WordPress do?
It connects WordPress to the SCE notarization service. The service associates a specific piece of content’s digital fingerprint with a blockchain record, allowing the file’s integrity to be compared with the notarized version.
Is the plugin free?
Yes. The plugin can be installed free of charge from its store. To use notarization, you need an SCE account: create the connection key and buy credits in the dashboard.
How do you install it on WordPress?
Install and activate the plugin from the WordPress store using an account authorized to manage plugins. Follow the link to the SCE dashboard, create a key and buy credits. Enter the key in the plugin settings.
Which content can be notarized?
The plugin lets you notarize images, video, audio and PDFs. The proof refers to the specific file version; maximum sizes and compatibility with your environment are checked before activation.
What happens when WordPress resizes a notarized image?
A thumbnail or recompressed image is a different file with a different fingerprint. The original’s proof remains tied to the original and does not automatically certify the thumbnail. Verifying a variant requires a reference to that specific version; automatic variant handling must be checked in the plugin.
How do readers view the proof?
Readers open the badge or verification link associated with the content, when published. They can view the version reference, registration and comparison result, if a comparison was performed. The link’s position and publication depend on the integration.
Is it a C2PA signature?
Blockchain notarization records proof linked to a file’s fingerprint. C2PA Content Credentials are a separate service that accompanies content with provenance information. Notarization alone does not identify an author or establish the truth of what is depicted.
